The Order of the Cross

Founder: Reverend John Todd Ferrier

Golden Cross

The Order of the Cross is an informal Christian Fellowship, dedicated to the Compassionate Life and the realization of the Christ within. Since its foundation in 1904 it has promoted a pacifist and vegetarian way of life.

The Order has for its service in life the cultivation of the Spirit of Love towards all Souls; helping the weak and defending the defenceless and oppressed;

Abstaining from hurting the creatures, eschewing bloodshed and flesh-eating, and living on the pure foods so abundantly provided by nature;

Walking in the Mystic Way of Life, whose Path leads to the realization of the Christhood.

(Extract from the Spiritual Aims and Ideals of the Order)

The Message of the Order of the Cross is universal in its scope. It touches the deep issues of life and explains how we are related to the Eternal World through our spiritual constitution. It speaks of GOD as the FATHER-MOTHER, thus emphasizing the dual mystery which pervades the Universe.

It teaches us how to approach our spiritual centre and enter the inner realms through aspiration and worship, and how to achieve the inner uprightness and balance of which the Cross is the symbol. We are shown how the embodiment of Jesus in life, the way of love and compassion, will eventually culminate in the illumined estate of Christhood, attainable by all souls.

Members of the Order seek to tread this path, sharing in prayer and worship, study, fellowship and service. They are all pacifist and vegetarian or vegan.

Regular meetings are held at the London Headquarters and in Groups and Reading Circles in the United Kingdom, North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
